How do I inspect an individual Top Source?

Top Sources are the sources that have the most matches in common with the student submission. You can inspect one Top Source at a time to view the matching text side by side with the student submission. There are two ways to do this.

Click on the source in the Top Sources list.

Or, from the Source drop-down menu, select the source you would like to inspect.

The matching source text will display on the right side of the screen.

Notice that the highlighted sentence in the student submission is also highlighted in the source text area for comparison. Bold type also indicates the key matching words within the sentence.

Matching sources that are no longer available.

Occasionally, you may run across matching sources that are no longer available for retrieval. This can happen if the original source page is renamed or deleted. If that is the case, you will see a message indicating that the original source is no longer available, along with the date when the source was last found.

Use the up and down arrows to jump to other matching sentences within the same source.

Click the close sentence inspection X icon to return to the list of Top Sources.
